Cracking session. Well powered up on the Synchro and 5.8 Flight to start
with, and the water was nice and flat. Great opportunity to practice gybes,
and was planing round most of them which was great. The wind kept on
picking up, and soon became a bit mental with the 115L board getting
bounced around, especially at the corners, so swapped it for the Bic
Tribal, which was much easier to handle in the conditions, particularly as
the chop had started to pick up a bit. The wind kept on increasing, and so
swapped the 5.8 for the 5.0m MC Wave, which was perfect for about an hour
and a half, with fantastic mad blasts across the estuary, with the odd chop
hop here and there, and then really cranking round the gybes at the ends of
each run. Fantastic! Was really getting dialled into the board and sail
combination, and was managing to plane round quite a few of the gybes which
I hadn't been managing on this board for a while, must be all the practice
I've been getting over the last couple of months. The wind was still
increasing, and eventually the 5.0m was just too big, even with masses of
downhaul on, so called it a day after 3 hours of fantastic conditions, and
good craic whith the guys and girls who were making the most of the
conditions - must have about 15 - 20 people out sailing, but still plenty
of room for everybody. Great session - despite the stinging rain at the
end!
